Help Families of Fallen Heroes Get the Benefits They Deserve
Imagine for a moment that your doctor has told you that you have a terminal illness, and despite your condition, you’re still being put “on the clock” at work. Imagine further that if you live just one more day, your family loses out on critical death benefits.
That scenario is the exact same nightmare that many families of fallen police and firefighters in California face every single day.
The good news is Governor Brown can put a stop to those situations from happening to other families by signing AB 1373, a bill that is already on his desk. Can you take one minute to urge him to show compassion for these families of fallen heroes? It’s as easy as filling out a simple form online here.
Right now, families of fallen heroes only qualify for death benefits if he or she dies within 240 weeks of the diagnosis. We, along with the California Professional Firefighters and other first responder organizations, support AB 1373 to close this cruel loophole.
AB 1373 would ensure that families get access to the benefits they deserve. It’s no wonder AB 1373 passed the legislature with overwhelming bipartisan support. Please take a moment to urge Governor Brown to sign AB 1373 and give these families the support they need.
Thank you for your support in keeping Public Safety First!
Very truly yours,
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
