Mirzaei says the work is “ brought to life,” by incorporating organic materials such as the flowers, leaves, and branches. These are juxtaposed on an acrylic base, with oils, metal leafing, flora composites, in addition to other materials to help create texture and depth.
She says, “Ideologically this series is a step stoning of evolution within my bodies of work. Flowers, nature, animals, etc. bring so much joy into our lives on a daily basis and I wanted to do a different variation on botanical themed art and not just make it two dimensional.”
Sona Mirzaei had an auspicious debut on the International art scene after two pieces from her collection were chosen as finalists for the 2009 London International Creative Competition. Her art has been showcased privately and publicly in exhibitions, hotels, TV shows, charity auctions and galleries globally.
