CHARLES REESE TAPPED AS MODERATOR FOR PAFF INAUGURAL NEW MEDIA FEST WITH FEATURED PANELIST, ISSA RAE, CREATOR OF AWKWARD BLACK GIRL!
The Pan African Film Festival (PAFF) has tapped Charles Reese, cultural architect and series regular for the hit comedy web series, “WHO…” to serve as the special guest moderator for its inaugural New Media Fest conversation. This new addition to the festival will highlight web series and introduce yet to be seen television pilots. Reese says,”This is so timely because our web series, “WHO…” was recently adapted into a newly scripted television pilot now called, “Basketball Wife.” (www.facebook.com/BasketballWife). Additionally, ” WHO…” where Reese plays Jalil Baldwin, the fiesty chef, was one of twenty-three web series selected to be a part of the first ever international Marseille WebFest 2011 in France.
Ayuko Babu, executive director of PAFF states, “We have been strictly a film festival for over 20 years and want to expand our platform to other mediums of independent black expression. Charles Reese and Issa Rae bring a wealth of knowledge and pro-active energy to this new medium.” Reese will get the skinny about the tools used to create these new trans-media projects from the critically acclaimed web content creator, Issa Rae (Awkward Black Girl) along with Andrea Lewis (Black Actress); Stacey Muhammed (For Colored Boys); and Dennis Dortch & Numa Perrier( Black & Sexy TV Talk). This will be an engaging, educational and entertaining afternoon of dialogue with some of the most creative “virtual professionals” in new media entertainment.
The PAFF New Media panel discussion will take place on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 3:30pm in The Rave Cinemas Baldwin Hills 15 at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza, Los Angeles, CA.
