LOS ANGELES COUNTY OBSERVES CHILD SUPPORT AWARENESS MONTH IN AUGUST WITH EXPANDED COMMUNITY OUTREACH
The Los Angeles County Child Support Services Department (CSSD) is again participating in special community outreach events to educate County residents about the importance and impact of child support for families and children.
CSSD will partner with community groups for the annual statewide observance of Child Support Awareness Month. The observance highlights the importance of child support services for families and children and recognizes the contributions of child support professionals in Los Angeles County and statewide.
“Every day, we see the positive impact of child support on the well-being of families and children in our County and we look forward to this special opportunity to share more information about our services with the community,” said CSSD Director Dr. Steven Golightly. “We applaud the community partners and organizations who are working with us to share this valuable information during the month of August.”
A highlight of Child Support Awareness Month in L.A. County is a traditional workshop on child support services for community organizations and agencies on August 22nd at CSSD’s headquarters in Commerce. Other outreach includes events with the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, AltaMed, Great Beginnings for Black Babies, Asian Americans Advancing Justice, the veterans program at Goodwill Work Source, the California Employment Development Department and local chapters of the American Payroll Association.
On August 13, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors will present a Child Support Awareness Month resolution to CSSD staff recognizing the work of the Department.
