When it comes to stains on clothes, Italians use their favorite laundry detergent, Dash. In honor of the 50th anniversary of the detergent brand, Au Jour le Jour decided to collaborate with them as a reminder of how it has always been important for Dash to focus on new innovation and cleaning care. We never think about it, but cleaning your clothes the right way is extremely important, especially the ones that you can’t just throw into a washing machine. One use of a bad detergent and you might loose, your favorite leather jacket or silk organza skirt.
Designers, Mirko Fontana and Diego Marquez created their Spring/ Summer 2016 collection around a simple word: “ spots.” Everything in the collection is about print splashes and stains, with a reminder that Dash always has your back to “clean it up.” They did so by creating Dash accessories such as necklaces, handbags and what seemed like rain boots and paired them with the outfits, throughout the entire collection. A range of very colorful outfits were seen, the Au Jour le Jour girl has a particular eye for color and knows how to mix and match a eco-leather mini dress with a jacket or crop top paired with a short skirt without being provocative. The first looks down the runway, were very eye catching due to the fact that these dresses were a patchwork of tartan with different colors of faux crocodile leather and what looked like a dripping print. The clothes were playful but with an attitude of a 60’s girl.
Some mini dresses had long sleeve button down oversized shirts under them, paired with high knee rain boots. Rain or shine, the AJLJ girl will dress up and wear these boots! An interesting aspect of the collection was the print created on some skirts and dresses; the print looked like paint that had been splashed on garments while creating a particular shape and remained intact. The paint splash print was also present on denim, while ketchup stains were thrown on boots and blouses.
Mini Swarovski crystals printed dresses made a splash on the runway, and we couldn’t help thinking that these dresses were made for a fun single girl who loved to party! The prints on these two royal blue dresses were literally publicity for a new Dash product, as you could read: “ più bianco non si puó” meaning “ can’t get more white than that” and “Anniversary Limited Edition.” The dresses were identical but one of them was just one sleeved. Although we’re not quite sure about such a clear advertisement on a garment it is without a doubt a great party dress! Another similar “Dash dress” with Swarovski crystals was white but this time; it read “ DASH 50 anni” truly celebrating the amount of years of the detergent brand.
The different prints of the collections that created all over prints of spills, blood spurts and even syringes were truly the highlights of that presentation. Not to mention how they were able to create the same type of effect on the mini paillette dresses. The colors were very festive and this season, the Au Jour le Jour girl is in the mood to celebrate.
