Music artists rally at American Music Awards in support of Occupy Wall
Occupy Wall Street to hold after-party discussion in solidarity with musicians who support the movement.
Musical artists plan on showing their support of the Occupy Wall Street movement Sunday evening at the American Music Awards in Los Angeles, CA. Dozens of artists have appeared at OWS and other Occupations nationwide, including Tom Morello, Michael Franti, Russell Simmons, folk-rock icons Joan Baez, David Crosby and Graham Nash among others. Several are developing projects in solidarity with the Occupy movement which has occupations in over 2,000 cities nationwide and an estimated 9 million people occupying public spaces worldwide.
In support of these artists and many more around the world who identify with the movement, Occupy Wall Street will hold a discussion on its relationship to the entertainment community to be held after the American Music Awards on Sunday at Villa Lounge in West Hollywood.
Members of LA and Wall Street occupations will be on hand to welcome and invite participation from artists and those who wish to attend. Can we get a vibe check?
Since the start of the Occupy Wall Street movement in New York City, September 17, 2011, tent cities have popped up around the nation, with local cities occupying their public spaces to demonstrate and hold public forums called General Assemblies. In these assemblies, citizens exercise their First Amendment right to hold public forum, address grievances, and discuss possible solutions to the oppressing rise of corporate greed, abuse and political corruption. Many communities are organizing solutions based initiatives, working in solidarity with groups in their community.
David DeGraw will be present at the OWS after-party discussion via live stream. David is a journalist and activist. He is one of the Occupy Wall Street organizers and originators of the 99% movement.
