A protest was held at the Ralphs location Western and King Blvd. on June 12, 2013 protesting the closure of another Ralphs market.
We deserve respect.
Ralphs, owned by the multibillion dollar grocery conglomerate, Krogers, raked in $96.8 billions in revenues last year, and has a track record of engaging in poor business practices in South LA, including selling rotten food and low quality products. Not something you see in Ralphs grocery stories in wealthier, whiter neighborhoods. This most recent action is another example of Ralphs’ disrespect for our community.
We can’t standby and let another major multibillion dollar corporation wash their hands clean while they create more unemployment, empty lots and food apartheid.
Can you imagine yet another empty lot in South LA? Ralphs can. The Ralphs grocery store on the corner of Martin Luther King Blvd. and Western Avenue is closing down without letting the community know. This is the second Ralphs to close in a month in South LA.
