Designer Spotlight: FDE presents Courtney Allegra and M the Movement
Fashion enthusiast of all ages gathered in the heart of LA for the Fashion Designers Expo (FDE) to check out both upcoming and vetted designers showcasing their looks. FDE — previously held in Florida — relocated to Los Angeles for the first time this year which set the stage for featured designers Courtney Allegra and M the Movement, who are both from the west coast.
Young designer Courtney Allegra brought an edge to the swimwear showcased at FDE. Allegra began designing when she was 12 years old and continued to make a name for herself by presenting a young, modern swimsuit and cover-up collection that dazzled the latter half of the show. Though many swimsuit designers opt for bright colors fit for the summer, Allegra played with the concept of “bright” differently — choosing darker hues of metallics and striped pieces that added beautifully to the collection. The swimsuits did not shy away from prints either — patterns of money and camouflage playfully added to the lustrous collection of two-pieces. As if the dazzling bathing suits weren’t enough to leave the crowd in awe, the collection was accessorized with Sweets Jewelry, which added body chains and necklaces that finished the looks off perfectly.
M the Movement closed out the show with a bold, humanitarian flare — bringing in more streetwear-inspired looks with an eco-friendly twist. The collection combined luxury and streetwear and turned both into something that can be worn every day and in every occasion. M the Movement fearlessly kicked off their collection with menswear that played with different fits and materials. Although some of the first looks included more elegant, leather pieces like a blazer worn by one model, the leather was repurposed throughout, offering casual options for men that like wearing leather pieces. M the Movement daringly played with elements of design and created chic looks for women as well. The monochromatic pieces were punctuated by bright, beautifully-shaped jackets and artistic prints that made every piece in the collection unique. The essence of the collection stayed true to its streetwear inspiration and dabbled with several artistic elements like graphics and prints to create a symphony of styles.
Without a doubt, Courtney Allegra and M the Movement showcased trends that are sure to be a major hit this summer!
