As suede owned the Spring/Summer 2015 runways, the iconic 70’s leather fabric is now enjoying a fashion renaissance this season. From cream trenches at Loewe to a sleek shirtdress by Gucci, designers have reinvented the fabric perfectly appropriate for this upcoming summer.

When you think of suede, you might think of thick leather that seems to be more suitable for a fall or winter season. Well, this suede has taken center stage as designers have come up with new concepts to wear the fabric. Designer Jason Wu worked closely with Italian leather-factories to create suede that literally feels paper-thin and smoother at the same time.

Suede can be an expensive purchase due to a high cost in production. If it is not in in your budget, do not worry! Many companies have created similar look-alike styles in faux suede that can be purchased at an affordable price. When you browse through stores at your near by shopping mall, you can’t help but running into faux suede clothing. From short jackets in imitation suede with fringes for only $49.95 at H&M to ZARA’s faux suede skinny jeans starting at $70, there are plenty of options for everyone.

How to wear suede this season can be done in many different ways; Cropped suede tops are currently very popular. When you are looking for a cropped style, combine the top with a high-waisted skirt or trousers for a complete outfit that is perfect for warm summer days.

When purchasing a suede jacket, combine it with a floaty dress to make it look more playful. A suede mini skirt is also a great piece to own for summer. For a more sophisticated look you might want to combine the skirt with a loose-fitting blouse and cute leather sandals.

Whether you decide to invest in a serious piece of suede or take it the faux way, you will not have to banish it out of you closet when the colder season comes around. Suede is appropriate for every season and will not go out of style for a while.
