“The Dia Diaries” It’s Wedding Season!

According to Ivanka Trump’s Instagram post last week, it’s wedding season! Congratulations to all the brides to be, thank you for giving the girls in relationships the perfect opportunity to hint that they want a ring on it! And for us single girls, well, don’t worry, we’ll find a date to come with us… hopefully.

We know it can be a little overwhelming when choosing a dress for a wedding and the only way to figure it out is to know the season, time, theme or style of the nuptials. There are roughly three to four different types of weddings that you can attend, or throw and according to each of them, we will help you choose the perfect outfit.

Rustic Wedding

Wedding-1

There’s nothing like a country and stylish nuptial ceremony! Lately it has been very trendy to have a rustic/barn feel wedding, and we love it. If you receive an invitation that was clearly done by hand, now is your chance to apply the bohemian style for a more formal event.

There are different ways to incorporate the boho chic look for a wedding. If it’s during the day, you can either go for a suede dress (short or long) pair it with gladiator sandals, flats or boots. You can also opt for a floral maxi dress or high waisted pants with a very flowy tucked in shirt. If the wedding is at night or will last until the evening, wear a long dress. Tip: Hand made jewelry and your hairstyle will make the whole difference! Therefore we recommend letting your hair down or putting it up in a chignon with accompanying braids in front. A rustic wedding gives you the freedom to be as creative as possible. At the same time, even if the invitation says the wedding will take place in a barn don’t go too literal; it’s not a costume party.

Beach Wedding

Wedding-6

This one is a classic for destination weddings and also a fun one to attend. There’s nothing like a having a shore as a venue for a wedding and it’s definitely the easiest one to choose attire for. The only thing to be careful about is to not look too casual and in order to do so, you must not choose a beachwear outfit. Because of where it will be, the wedding will surely be during the day, so you have fewer options to choose from. Maxi dresses and prints will be your best friend when making the choice! Any print looks nice near the beach, but be careful to not clash patterns. We will also suggest you to buy an off the shoulder dress or a one sleeve that is either long or a spaghetti strap, to stay cool. A popular print to consider appeared on the runway shows during the spring 2015 collections, the creatures of the seas as well as corals and shells. In order to be elegant during this type of wedding, choose your accessories wisely.

Vineyard & Vintage

Wedding-10

Last but not, the epitome of romance…a vineyard! In our opinion a sprawling vineyard is the perfect location! Because wine only gets better with age, go along with that idea and have a vintage wedding. As the bride, it’s not so difficult to choose a dress, as the most classics are made of lace & pearl, synonymous to the vintage era. For the guest, it might be a little harder, as vintage clothing means items from a previous era, like the 20’s or the 50’s. There are so many movies you can get inspiration from, think about “ The Great Gatsby” or “And God Created Woman.” If you are more of a twenties girl, look for sleeveless dresses with glitter, fringes (it has so much movement when you’re on the dance floor), pearls and clutches are a must when it comes to your accessories. Now if you think of yourself as more glamorous and irresistible, you are a fifties girl! Think about it, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe and Brigitte Bardot, are still icons today! You have endless choices there. For hair and make up, the big old Hollywood curls and red lipstick is the way to go.
