“Reach the Masses” Summer Swimwear 2015

The Sofitel hotel in Beverly Hills, CA hosted this years summer editorial launch 2015 event, which aimed to celebrate creative direction and photography from SOCIAL, the lifestyle magazine and RUNWAY, as well as showcased the Fancy Swimwear Collection by designer Liz Luque on Saturday, July 30. The event was presented by Chalia Breonn, a “vibrant and innovative fashion stylist and designer,” according to her website, with her own styling firm, as well as R + M, or Reach the Masses, which “is an artistic service agency that represents new designers and established corporations.”




The editorial launch was held in the Riviera 31, which featured an open bar, a “runway” comprised of a few wooden blocks that the models would later pose the designs on, a DJ and soft couches and cushions all bathed in a dim candle light, which made the location and ambience perfect for socializing during the event. The event was also divided into three segments in which every 25 minutes, five models would don different swimsuits of Luque’s Fancy Athletica 2015 collection for viewers and photographers to admire.


The featured designer, Luque, started her fashion career by first appearing in runway shows as a model. However, at age 17 tragedy struck and she was diagnosed with cancer as well as forced to quit her modeling career. However, her love for fashion always remained and after Luque was fully recovered, she created her first swimsuit in 2006 at age 19, and that’s where her career as a custom swimsuit designer began. She now has a company, Fancy Swimwear, that is divided into different aesthetically inspired sections: Madam Fancy, futuristic, flashback, safari, scenic and international. All her swimsuit collections are inspired by these themes, including her collection which was featured at the summer launch event, Fancy Athletica 2015. The collection is a sportswear inspired swimsuit collection and draws inspiration from her “flashback” themed section by “including neon colors and trendy 80’s inspired designs.”




“My two favorite pieces would have to be landing strip and scuba because they’re just so daring and different…I take immense pride in the fact that what I create is so different from what this market offers,” Luque said. “This entire collection has 18 pieces and took two years to put together.”
