“The Dia Diaries” Spring Trends: Less Is More

Big hair, bold make-up and provocative clothing are so last season; celebrities are opting for a “less is more” approach to fashion with looks that are soft and natural. This spring we’re seeing a refreshing emergence of a chic sophistication in womenswear and beauty. Overtly provocative designs have been replaced with feminine silhouettes and softer luxurious fabrics.

For a celebrity, the evolution of their personal style is essential to the growth of their brand. As a Certified Image Consultant, I advise individuals to revamp their image quarterly by incorporating new styles and regimens that are appropriate for their body type, age and industry.

From reality stars to entertainers, there is no denying a dynamic style transformation.

nicki1Nicki Minaj

Was once known for donning outrageous wigs, vibrant stage make-up and cartoonish attire has undergone a complete revamp of her image. Embracing her natural beauty, Minaj has been wearing less makeup, darker tresses and sleek and simple garment designs (Loves it.)

Recently she told MTV news:

I went so far to the other side that there’s only one place to go from there. You can either continue doing costumes or you can just say, ‘Hey guess what? This will shock them even more. Doing nothing will shock them even more.” We couldn’t agree with her more!

gaga1Lady Gaga

Existing for “The Applause,” Lady Gaga is often identified by her elaborate costumes and wild red carpet antics. However, this year it wasn’t a unicorn or a dress made of meat that captured everyone’s attention… it was the absence of those things that captivated spectators. There is no telling what Gaga’s style will be in the upcoming

Months, but she certainly has our attention.

girlyDraya Michele

Has Basketball Wives LA Star, toned down her party girl persona? Trading her sheer garments for couture, Draya’s image has gone from risqué to refined. With the right direction, I predict that the Entrepreneur/ TV personality could really become a Style Star to watch.

From the cover of Playboy to Vogue magazine, Kim Kardashian is the perfect example of a “less is more” approach to revamping your image.

The exotic beauty once known for her signature raven curls, body hugging dresses and heavily contoured face, has ditched her old look for chic and sophisticated options. Whether it’s a sign of maturity or the influence of her fashion forward fiancé (Kayne West,) Kim is certainly setting a new trend in Hollywood.
