“The Diaries” Italy’s TOP Street Style Stars

If there is only one thing that is injected in every Italians’ DNA, it is without a doubt, style. In fact, Italy is the only country that has three leading fashion capitals: Milan for the ready-to-wear fashion week which occurs twice a year, Florence for Men’s fashion week organized by Pitti Uomo and Rome for Alta Moda (Haute couture week). Fashion is indeed part of Italy’s culture, and its people are known for being absolutely elegant, because for them every occasion is an opportunity to dress-up well, “devono fare la bella figura” (they must make good impression).

With the help of social media, the socialites, editors and models that attend fashion shows are no longer considered as strict guests. They are now photographed by dozens of street style bloggers at every single show they go to, which gives them a platform to create their own websites and blogs. Here is a list of our top Italian street style stars.

Chiara Ferragni

With a following of 4 million fans on Instagram, Chiara Ferragni born in Cremona, Italy is now one of the top fashion bloggers in the world. Her blog, The Blonde Salad, was created in 2009 and receives about 6 million page views every month and since its launch, Ferragni has become a model, a shoe designer and has collaborated many times with different designers such as Louis Vuitton and Steve Madden. She is the only blogger that has ever attended the Met Gala Ball in New York and she earns almost 8 million dollars every year.

Anna Dello Russo

If Anna dello Russo’s name were in a dictionary, the definition would be extravagant, fashionista. During an interview she said that she has about 4000 pairs of shoes, and has a shoe library. She has also mentioned that if she is ever photographed in the streets, she would never again repeat that outfit. Anna dello Russo is the editor-at-large and creative consultant for Vogue Japan, but lives in Milan. She also has a website, www.annadellorusso.com, where you can see all the outfits she wore during fashion week in NY, Paris and Milan. She is mostly photographed because of her daring and bold choices.

Tamu McPherson

Tamu McPherson is a street style photographer who was born in Jamaica but raised in New York. She moved to Milan in order to be with her husband, though primarily for the love of fashion. Ever since she was a little girl, her mother and aunt would always dress her up and that’s how her interest began. Tamu McPherson has a very creative sense of style and during her interview for Vogue Italia she said: “today I want to be a business man, but tomorrow, maybe, I want to be a ballerina.”

Mariano Di Vaio

This list would have been incomplete without Mariano Di Vaio. Just like Chiara Ferragni he is a leading fashion blogger in Italy, has an instagram following of 3,8 million, is a trendsetter and for the girls a Pitti Uomo sensation. Mariano is also a model and has collaborated with Tommy Hilfiger and Maserati. He also has his own brand of jewelry. You can see everything from his photo shoots to jewelry collection on his website:
