This Wednesday, November 16, 2011, the City of Los Angeles Workforce Investment Board (WIB) released its Request for Proposals (RFP). The RFP is an opportunity for specific organizations to submit proposals to serve as Sector Workforce Intermediaries. These intermediaries contribute substantially to the mission of the WIB, serving to bring together workers and employers as well as public and private sources of funding. Workforce Intermediaries focus on creating pathways to employment by building valuable partnerships with other affiliated organizations.
Specifically, the intermediary will bring together employers and workers, public and private funding streams and relevant partners to create and implement pathways to career advancement and employment within the identified sector. Workforce Intermediaries integrate a wide variety of resources, build partnerships with other providers, and focus on achieving agreed upon outcomes. Intermediaries may include education, government, workforce development, labor, business and community leaders. The intermediary will be focused on leveraging the collective and individual assets of systemic partners, seeking to create career pathways to high demand, high growth industries, and sustainable careers.
